Group HMO plans your team will actually use

A company HMO plan pays for your staff's healthcare in return for a yearly premium per person. Here is what plans cover, what drives the price, and how to find the right one for your team.

What a company HMO plan covers

Every plan is different. These are the areas to compare — Yousure lines them up side by side so you can see the limits in each.

Primary care

Consultations, common tests and basic drugs at your staff's chosen primary hospital.

Specialist care

Referrals to specialists, scans and investigations, approved by the HMO.

Admissions and surgery

Admission, surgery and anaesthesia, up to the plan's limits.

Maternity

Antenatal care and delivery on plans that include it — check the limits and waiting periods.

Dental and optical

Check-ups, treatment and glasses or lenses, often with a yearly limit.

Chronic conditions

Ongoing care for conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, on plans that cover them.

Mental health

Behavioural and mental health support on plans that include it.

Gym and wellness

Extras some plans add on. Nice to have, rarely essential.

Dependants

Employees only, or their families too?

Covering spouses and children is usually the biggest single driver of cost. Some companies start with employees only and add families at the next renewal, once the budget is proven.

Whichever you choose, Yousure shows the price for your exact headcount so you can see the difference before you decide.

Should you cover families?

What affects the price

Four things explain most of the difference between two plans' premiums.

1

Headcount

HMOs price groups by size. Smaller teams are usually priced as SME and larger ones as Corporate, and each HMO sets its own cut-off.

2

Dependants

Individual plans cover the employee; Family plans also cover a spouse and children. This is usually the biggest driver of cost.

3

Benefits and limits

Higher annual limits, a wider hospital list and extras such as dental and maternity all raise the premium.

4

Billing cycle

See prices annually or every six months. The total for the year is what matters for your budget.
