Yousure (“Yousure”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a trading name of Yousure Technologies Limited (RC 9365834). Yousure provides a platform to compare, quote, and enrol in health insurance (HMO) plans in Nigeria, for individuals and businesses. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it. It is written to meet the requirements of Nigeria's data protection law — the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (together, “NDPR”) — and, for visitors in the European Union / United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
1. Who we are
Yousure is a trading name of Yousure Technologies Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission under number RC 9365834. We operate the website and platform at yousure.ng (together with any related apps, the “Service”). For the purposes of the NDPR and GDPR, Yousure Technologies Limited is the data controllerfor personal data collected through the Service — we decide what data is collected and why it's processed.
You can reach us about privacy matters at support@yousure.com or compare@yousure.ng, or by phone at 0707 924 6899.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to anyone who visits the Service, requests a quote, compares plans, enrols in a plan, or otherwise interacts with Yousure — whether or not you create an account. It covers both individual visitors and people acting on behalf of a business (“Yousure for Business”).
It does not cover the privacy practices of the insurance companies (HMOs) or hospitals you ultimately choose — once you enrol in a plan, that provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle your data as your insurer or healthcare provider.
3. Data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Identity & contact data — name, email address, phone number, and (for business customers) company name and role.
- Quote & coverage data — the information you give us to match and price plans: location, budget, number of employees or dependants, current HMO and renewal date, and coverage priorities.
- Special category (health-related) data— for individual/family quotes, we may collect dependants' dates of birth, sex, tobacco-use status, and Medicare status. This is sensitive personal data under both the NDPR and GDPR Article 9, and we only collect it with your explicit consent, to price and match plans that fit your household.
- Usage & activity data— searches you run, filters and search parameters you apply, plans and companies you view or compare, pages visited, links clicked, and repeat (“return”) visits. We keep this history against your visit even before you give us your email, and link it to your record once you do (see Section 6).
- Device & technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and similar diagnostic data, collected automatically and via cookies (Section 7).
- Details of people you share plans with— if you use “Send to CEO/CFO”, the email address and (optionally) first name of the person you send to, and any note you add. See Section 8a.
- Communications data — messages you send us through forms, email, phone, or live chat, including chat transcripts.
4. How we collect data
- Directly from you, when you use the quote, compare, or enrolment flows, or contact support.
- Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies as you browse (Section 7).
- From the HMO or insurance company you enrol with, to confirm and service your policy.
- From your employer, if you are enrolled through a corporate/business plan.
5. Our legal basis for processing
Depending on the activity, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Consent — for special category (health-related) data, and for optional marketing communications and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract — to generate quotes, process your enrolment, and administer your plan once you sign up.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, improve our matching and pricing, and understand how visitors use the Service — balanced against your right to privacy.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with Nigerian law or a lawful request from a regulator.
6. How we use your data
- To generate accurate plan comparisons and quotes based on your search parameters.
- To process enrolment with the HMO/insurer you select.
- To build a single view of your activity — searches, plans and companies compared, and return visits — so our team can help you faster and follow up on a quote you started. If you interact with us before giving an email address, that activity is initially tied to an anonymous visitor identifier stored in your browser; once you provide an email (e.g. to verify your account or request a quote), we link that history to your customer record.
- To send plan summaries you ask us to send — to your own inbox (“Email me these”) or to a person you choose, such as your CEO or CFO (“Send to CEO/CFO”). Replies from that person are addressed to you.
- To provide customer support, including through live chat.
- To send you service messages (e.g. quote follow-ups, renewal reminders) and, where you've opted in, marketing updates.
- To detect and prevent fraud, and to keep the Service secure.
- To analyse aggregate usage trends and improve the Service.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
9. International data transfers
Some of our service providers (such as cloud hosting and analytics providers) process data outside Nigeria, including in the United States and European Union. Where this happens, we rely on providers that offer appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms — to protect your data to a standard consistent with the NDPR and GDPR.
10. How long we keep data
We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain your customer/quote history, and meet legal, accounting, or regulatory requirements — after which we delete or anonymise it. Activity tied to an anonymous visitor identifier that never converts to an identified customer is retained for a limited period for analytics purposes and then deleted.
11. How we protect your data
We use technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted internal access to sensitive data — designed to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No system is completely secure, and we continually review our safeguards.
12. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this policy).
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request erasure of your data, where applicable.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including profiling and marketing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC); in the EU/UK, your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@yousure.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
13. Automated decisions
We use automated logic to match and rank plans based on the search parameters you provide. This helps you compare options faster but does not make a final decision to enrol you in any plan without your action. You can always speak to a human advisor before making a decision.
14. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for adults arranging cover for themselves, their family, or their employees. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Where a dependant's date of birth is provided by a parent or guardian as part of a quote, it is used solely for coverage matching and pricing.
15. Marketing communications
Where you've opted in, we may send you service updates and marketing communications by email, SMS, or phone. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails, or by contacting support@yousure.com. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages about a quote or policy you already hold.
16. Third-party links
The Service may link to HMO, insurer, or hospital websites we don't control. This policy doesn't cover their practices — please review their own privacy policies.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the revised version here with an updated “Last updated” date, and where changes are material, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you.
18. Contact us & complaints
Yousure Technologies Limited (RC 9365834). For any question about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at support@yousure.com or 0707 924 6899. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or, if you're in the EU/UK, your local data protection authority.
